State Government introduces new “G2G PASS” app to apply for travel exemptions
We recently advised that the WA Government had introduced a number of directions restricting the ability for persons to travel between regions in Western Australia in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19, but that travel in certain circumstances was allowed. One of the circumstances where intrastate travel is allowed is for the purpose of travelling for work, with the western rock lobster industry specifically receiving an exemption to the travel restrictions.
To support your need to travel for work, we encouraged you to travel with appropriate identification and evidence that you meet the categories exempted (including a letter from WRL).
To improve the process and speed of travelling across regional boundaries the WA Government has introduced “G2G Pass”, a mobile app that allows you to apply for a travel exemption within (and into) Western Australia for your approved purpose.
We recommend that you use the G2G Pass if you are travelling for work to streamline the process at the regional checkpoints.
To apply for your G2G Pass, click here. You should complete your application as soon as possible, as the WA Government have indicated that it may take more than 3-4 business days for your application to be processed.
You may still use your WRL letter or other supporting documents as evidence of your requirement to travel for work (or other approved circumstances).
