2023 WRL AGM Update and Board Changes

We would like to thank everyone who joined us at the 2023 WRL Annual General Meeting this past Friday. Your participation and contributions are genuinely appreciated, and we hope you found the morning both informative and enjoyable.

The AGM took place at the Fremantle Sailing Club, Fremantle, and included a summary of the audited financial reports, the Chair’s report, and the declaration of the WRL Board of Directors.

WRL would like to congratulate the successful candidates in the Northern Zone election: Jared Groom and Justin Pirrottina (re-elected), and re-elected Southern Zone board members Stephen Minutillo and Mat Thompson.

We also wish to express our deep gratitude to retired Chair Terry Lissiman for his dedication, leadership and service to WRL and the industry. Terry’s professionalism, knowledge and reliability will be missed. We wish Terry, Cindy and the family all the very best for the future and we look forward to staying connected.

Following the AGM, the Board meeting resulted in the election of Russell Barnett as WRL Independent Chair, and Fedele Camarda and Bruce Cockman as co-deputy Chairs. Additionally, Bruce Cockman has been elected Chair of the TACC committee, with Fedele Camarda continuing as a committee member.

In addition to the formal AGM proceedings, the morning’s program included an industry forum for an engaging discussion on critical fishery-related matters, such as Resource Access, Harvest Strategy, ARMA, MFL Levy increase, and an update on WRL IPA Programs.

A digital copy of the WRL 2022/2023 Annual Report, which includes the audited Financial Report for the year ended 30 June 2023 and was distributed at the meeting, can be found on the WRL website by clicking here.

Once again, we thank everyone who attended the AGM.
