On 8 September 2023, the Western Rock Lobster Council (WRL) completed the call for nominations for the election of Directors for 2023. The Rules of Association for WRL require an election every year, with half of the positions on the Board being declared vacant.

There was no election required for the Southern Zone as there were only two nominations for the two vacant positions, being Mat Thompson and Stephen Minutillo who have been re-elected as Directors.

An election is required for the Northern Zone. There were 3 nominations received for 2 vacant positions. The candidates in order of nominations received are Greg Cole, Justin Pirrottina and Jared Groom.

The WRL Rules of Association allow for election by ballot to be conducted prior to the AGM with the election results to be effective from the AGM. Therefore, these elections will be conducted using a postal ballot.

Ballot paper/s have been sent by mail to Northern Zone MFL holders. This was completed on 14 September 2023.

Please note that according to the WRL Rules of Association, Rules 9.2(a)(2) and (3), state that:

• 9.2(a)(2) only Ordinary Members may vote on the election of Directors and an Ordinary Member may vote to elect a Director only in relation to the Zone or Zones in which the Ordinary Member holds Units of usual entitlement.
• 9.2(a)(3) An Ordinary Member who holds Units of usual entitlement on one MFL for more than one Zone may only vote for a Zone Representative for the Zone in which the Member holds the most Units of usual entitlement.

The closing time/date for the election will be 4.00 p.m. Wednesday, 11 October 2023. Ballot papers received by WRL after this time shall be invalid.

The election will be decided on the number of votes received by the close of the voting. The declaration of the new Directors will be made at the 2023 AGM to be held on 13 October 2023 and will also be posted on the WRL website as soon as possible after the conclusion of the AGM.
