Introduction 

The Western Rock Lobster Council takes its privacy obligations very seriously and is committed to meeting the highest standards when collecting, storing, using and disclosing personal information.  

In these terms and conditions, “us”, “we” or “our” means Western Rock Lobster Council Inc and its sub-contractors. 

When you use the website westernrocklobster.org (“Website”) we will collect information from you, including personal information. 

We also know that some people like to engage with us through social media channels and email. We may collect information about you when you interact with us through these channels. 

We comply with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“the Act”) subject to any exemptions that apply to us under the Act, as well as other applicable laws protecting privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, store, use and share your personal information and how we protect your privacy rights and uphold our obligations in accordance with the laws referred to in this paragraph.

When used in this Privacy Policy, the term (“personal information”) has the meaning given to it in the Act. This may include, but is not limited to, your name, age, gender, postcode and contact details (including phone numbers and email addresses) and possibly financial information, including your bank account and credit card details. If the information we collect personally identifies you, or you are reasonably identifiable from it, the information will be considered personal information.

By providing us with personal information, by using the Website and/or other channels including social media and email, you agree to us collecting, holding, using and disclosing your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.   

This Privacy Policy is in addition to any other terms and conditions applicable to the use of the Website.

These services may include providing customer service, operating the Website, processing payments in relation to transactions entered into via the Website, performing business and sales analysis, ad tracking and analytics, member screenings and supporting our website functionality;

Storage and security 

We have security protocols to safeguard personal information you share with us against loss, theft and misuse, as well as against unauthorised access, modification or disclosure of the personal information under our control.  We will also destroy or de-identify any information that we no longer require. However, the internet is not a secure environment and although care is taken, we cannot guarantee the security of information provided to it via electronic means.  

Cookies, Device Identifiers and Similar Technologies: 

When you use the Website, we may use cookies and similar technologies like pixels, web beacons and local storage to collect information. In addition, we may ask advertisers or other partners to serve ads or services to your devices which may use cookies or similar technologies placed by us or the third party.

1. by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any direct marketing email you might receive from us;

We will not sell or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

If you believe any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible, at the above email address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect. 

Complaints handling 

If an individual wishes to make a complaint about the way we have handled his or her personal information (including if the individual believes we have breached the Act) the individual may do so by contacting us using the contact details set out at the end of this Privacy Policy. 

If a complaint is made, please include your name and contact details such as an email address and telephone number and clearly describe the complaint.  We will investigate the complaint and respond promptly.  Resolution of your complaint may be delayed if we are unable to contact you. 

If the complainant considers that we have failed to resolve the complaint satisfactorily, the complainant can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
