Shore Leave Festival 2025 – A Celebration of the Mid West and WA’s Iconic Seafood

As Presenting Partner of the 2025 Shore Leave Festival, Western Rock Lobster (WRL) proudly contributed to an unforgettable experience, doing their part to shine a spotlight on the Mid West’s vibrant seafood culture and deep industry connections.

One of the festival’s standout moments was the Abrolhos Islands Long Table Lunch on the spectacular East Wallabi Island. Surrounded by turquoise waters and pristine white sands, guests were treated to a culinary journey celebrating sustainability, innovation, and the proud heritage of Western Australia’s lobster industry.

The menu featured bold, rustic flavours — from fire-roasted pink snapper and tender BBB octopus, to Western Rock Lobster grilled over hot coals — all expertly paired with locally selected wines. WRL CEO Matt Taylor and WRL Director and fisher Jared Groom joined host Georgia Moore in sharing stories about the sustainability of the fishery, and the strong connection between the island, community, and industry.

Lobster on the Foreshore and Straight from the Boat

Back on the Geraldton Foreshore, WRL brought the flavour closer to home with a Back of Boat BBQ at The Helm, where locals gathered each evening to enjoy freshly grilled Western Rock Lobster by the water.

On Saturday at Fisherman’s Wharf, WRL hosted a Cray Cook-Off, Back of Boat Sales, and another buzzing BBQ. Local fisher Jarrad Franceschi and his crew arrived on their vessel Revelation, selling live lobsters direct to the public.

Some visitors opted to have their lobsters prepared fresh on-site by Shore Leave chefs — simply grilled with garlic butter, salt and pepper — while others took their lobsters home, along with a copy of WRL’s ‘Lobster Tale’ cookbook, featuring recipes and insights into WA’s world-class fishery.

A Festival to Remember

The Shore Leave Festival 2025 was a true highlight for Geraldton and the wider Mid West, bringing together visitors, seafood lovers, chefs, and industry leaders for five days of celebration, connection, and unforgettable flavours.
